Lying motionless – I had never known such pain

To see you but not speak to you ever again

Still warm, still the same – I called your name

To leave you there, alone

How could I be the same again?

Too soon to go, we were not ready

Our rock, our strength, that held us tight

Taken away, left to die

When you were weak and couldn’t fight

To hold your hand, to say goodbye

To say we love you one more time,

Their cruelty stokes my pain

Today, I am sad, I am weak, I am beaten

But I will not give up; I will be ready

The fight begins tomorrow, dad

My strength will come again
